Growing up in Austin, I knew Westlake as the area of choice for many hippies and university professors. My husband spent an idyllic childhood on land teeming with wildflowers and finding arrowheads on the edge of the small stream that ran through their property. While it has become a luxury area now, there are still some holdouts that hearken back to “old Austin” … including Cuernavaca, a funky lake community. Prices at the time of writing were from $275,000 for a small property in Cuernavaca to over $14 million. These areas are zoned to the popular Eanes School District.
